   I also tried silk rose petals and they absorb water and sink.

   I tried this the other day and it wasn’t the right type of rose. The rose I used didn’t have enough petals, so next time i’ll try it with a large queen elizabeth rose. Also, the head of the rose didn’t come off as clean as I hoped, so I might try cutting it off instead. I left my attempted rose bowl in the kitchen to see how long it took until it started to brown, and it lasted for a few hours, long enough for a wedding reception.

    something he does’nt say in this is that its easier to get the rose petals to line up if the flower was almost as open as it can get without turning brown. The petals are flatter so its easier to put each row in

    No they won’t change shape since there are so many flower petals packed in the bowl. Just make sure you put enough petals in.
